On the occasion of the International Day of Democracy (September 15, 2025), the World Without Violence Organization (Muslim Peace Movement), affiliated with the Shirazi Foundation Global in Washington, issued an official statement emphasizing the importance of democracy as a human value and a tool for achieving justice and stability.

The statement stressed that this day is not merely an annual event, but a fundamental reminder of the core values upon which balanced and stable societies are built. It explained that democracy is not just a political system, but a reflection of human dignity and the right of individuals to shape their future—an effective means of embodying justice, freedom, equality, and tolerance.

The organization also underlined that the principles of democracy align with the authentic spirit of Islam, which advocates shura (consultation), justice, and fairness. Furthermore, it put forward several key recommendations for governments, civil society, and international institutions, including:

1. Strengthening the rule of law and ensuring judicial independence.
2. Releasing prisoners of conscience and peaceful activists, and ending security harassment of journalists and intellectuals.
3. Supporting civil society and granting it free and independent space to operate.
4. Guaranteeing peaceful mechanisms for the transfer of power, away from violence and authoritarianism.
5. Combating corruption and activating specialized bodies to hold the corrupt accountable.
6. Promoting a culture of tolerance, acceptance of others, and confronting hate speech.

In conclusion, the statement affirmed that democracy, with its noble principles, represents a realistic solution to the crises plaguing the Arab world, such as ignorance, poverty, extremism, and sectarian conflict, and called upon all living forces in society to cooperate toward achieving this noble goal.
